The ascent is rather soft and leads to the 400 meters above sea level of the hills of Putignano, the "City of Carnival".

The narrow streets, a fairytale setting dotted with the typical trulli, accompany the cyclist first to Noci and then to Locorotondo where the white alleys and the Trulli bear witness to the extraordinary dry stone buildings dating back to the 15th century.

We pass Locorotondo until we reach the aqueduct cycle path and then instead take a northerly direction, climb up to Selva di Fasano and then return to Castellana Grotte.
